What Truck Lovers should Know about the 2020 Ford Super Duty

Ford has trotted out upgrades to raise the workhorse capabilities of the Super Duty truck while defending its market-leading position. The 2020 Ford Superduty pickup truck features cosmetic improvements and boasts significant upgrades under the hood. The improved model still provides a smorgasbord of various configurations and desirable options. The front ends of the F-250, F350, and F450 are restyled and the dual-rear-wheel models are given a distinct face.

Handling and Ride

According to Ford, the 2020 Super Duty is expected to tow more than 35, 000 pounds and haul over 7640 pounds in its bed. Its diesel gets a 10-speed automatic transmission that works alongside an all-new, gas-fed 7.3 liter V-8. This is a serious upgrade from the standard gasoline 6.2 V-8. Also, the truck has a new off-road package that adds a lift kit and meatier tires together with other upgrades that make it trail-ready. The new transmission comes with a wider ratio spread versus the previous six-speed, including 3 overdrive gears and optional provisions for a power-takeoff unit for driving the hydraulics for equipment like a snowplow.

Interior and Technology

The Super Duty lineup continuously provides a variety of cab and bed configurations, as well as interior appointments that make them ideal for use in the trade and business world. Its huge crew cab affords VIP-like passenger space and each cabin has a standard 4G LTE mobile hotspot. Also, it can be outfitted with infotainment features like a touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability. The top-tier Limited model has been improved with more colors and better material. The latest Super Duty has plenty of available driver-assistance technology that includes lane-departure warning, automated emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring that can work while towing a trailer.  The Pro Trailer Back Assist is a helpful feature on other Ford trucks. Drivers will find this system helpful with backing up a trailer, allowing the driver to steer via a knob.

The basic XL comes with automatic emergency braking, blindspot warning, rear cross-traffic alert option, and forward-collision warning. All of these features come standard on the XLT trim and above. Lastly, adaptive cruise control is optional on Lariat and above and standard on Platinum and Limited.

The Ford F-250 Super Duty is known as a tough work truck that is capable of pulling a heavy load and offering a spacious cabin. Its new power trains promise to enhance its capabilities.
